What does my pet need for travel to the EU?
When travelling to an EU country or Northern Ireland your pet needs:

proof of a valid, up to date rabies vaccination

tapeworm treatment for dogs if you’re travelling directly to Finland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Norway or Malta. This must be given 24-120 hours before arrival in the destination country
These requirements apply to cats, ferrets and dogs, including assistance dogs.
Check the rules of the country you’re travelling to for any additional restrictions or requirements before you travel!
As of the 22nd of April 2026, UK residents are no longer permitted to use EU pet passports to enter the EU. You'll need an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) instead.
